During the weeks leading up to Christmas, usually starting with Thanksgiving, many people reflect on the joys and challenges that have been part of their year. Often, we take time to write a Christmas Letter to friends and family, sharing some of our life events, a picture or two, and letting them know we remember and care for them.
Some of the apostles of Jesus also wrote letters to the people they cared for; sharing the things that were on their hearts about Jesus, and about what that meant not only for them but for us as well. As we listen to their letters, we discover things that strengthen and encourage us in our faith and empower us to follow in the ways of Jesus throughout the year.
Join us Sundays throughout the month of December as we hear the message of the apostles about Jesus and uncover the meaning of that message for us through their Christmas Letters.

In-Person Advent Study Group at Sturgis UMC

This year’s Advent study group will meet at 8:30 am on Sundays. The study book will be The Christmas Letters: Celebrating Advent with Those Who Told the Story First. Books will be available starting Sunday, November 24. The study group will begin meeting in person on Sunday, December 1. A Virtual Advent Study Group is also available over Zoom with Dakotas Conference Bishop Lanette Plambeck. The group will also read The Christmas Letters. The study group meets on Tuesdays, from November 26 through December 17, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. MT. Those interested will need to register online. |
